Theresa Steger moving to St. Lawrence College

Please join me in congratulating Theresa Steger on her new position as St. Lawrence College’s inaugural Dean of Program Planning, Development and Renewal. While this signifies a loss for Humber, the move represents the launch of a new leader in academic quality in Ontario’s college system.

Theresa has been at Humber for almost 15 years, first as Program Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education program where she led a large team of dedicated faculty members. In 2013, she brought her knowledge and passion for curriculum development and flexible learning to our Program Planning, Development and Renewal department. In that role she worked across the college in developing new academic programs and ensuring that curriculum enhancements came about through creative strategies in partnership with faculty and academic leaders.

Most recently as Director of Digital Curriculum, Theresa has worked closely with faculty to integrate technology enhanced learning experiences to create flexible and inclusive teaching practices. She was directly involved in the design and development of curriculum aligned virtual reality learning experiences, the curation and integration of Open Educational Resources into the curriculum, and the development of industry-related micro-credentials.

On a personal note, Theresa’s support upon my arrival at Humber and her ongoing interest in academic quality assurance have led to many interesting conversations about constructive alignment, competency-based learning and authentic assessment, which I have enjoyed tremendously. With heartfelt thanks and congratulations, Theresa, I wish you all the best in this next chapter of your career. You will be missed!
