Twist Gallery is proud to host the Humber College Photography Faculty and their exhibit P.O.V (point of view). P.O.V is an exhibit of the latest photographinc work from staff members of Humber’s renowned Creative Photography Program.

These visual explortations and distinct viewpoints delive into cultural, historical and aesthetic pracitictes. Inspired by the curiosity and ernty of the studnents within the program, P.O.V. provides a window into the diverse bodies of personal work created by this group of Humber’s education and visiual communication professionals.

About Twist Galllery

Twist Gallery is Toronto’s newest art gallery located in the heart of Queen West. Since it  opened back in February, the space has grown into one of the city’s most sought after  locations for art exhibits, events, and shows. The 5,000 square foot New York-style loft  features skylights, French Arch windows overlooking the city streets, and long wooden beams accentuating the high ceilings. The gallery ensures its artists can present their work in a relaxed and social environment, while allowing its visitors to walk around freely and learn about the art.

Fire Evacuation Drills

As mandated by the fire code the Department of Public Safety will be conducting fire evacuation drills during the month of May 2012.

The following are the assigned dates:

When the evacuation alarm sounds all occupants in the impacted building or fire alarm zone are expected to evacuate the space and assemble outside the building. When the “all clear” is provided by the drill manager, occupants will be advised to re-enter the building/zone and return to studies/work.

Emergency Response Team members will be wearing their high visibility orange vests.

Humber Research Announces the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Institutional Grant (SIG) Award for 2012/2013!

Humber Research is pleased to announce the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Institutional Grant (SIG) award for 2012/13. The following proposal was recommeded for funding by the SIG Adjudication Committee and approved by the Dean, Research:

Project: The Management and Administration of Government Communications in Canada

SSHRC provides annual block grants that help eligible Canadian postsecondary institutions fund small-scale research activities by their faculty in social sciences and humanities. Humber Research uses these SIG funds to award, through a competitive process, individual grants in the amount of $5,000 per annum (# of projects awarded depends on $ amount received from SSHRC) to support research activities.

Please note that the next SIG cycle will be announced in December 2012 for the 2013/14 fiscal year.

Description of Tech Camps

WORLD WILD WEB: Design and publish your website with the powerful yet user-friendly web editor Adobe Dreamweaver. You'll learn to hand code HTML, colour theory and experiment with creative text effects, as well as design customized graphics using Photoshop.

ROCKIN’ ROBO: Imagine it, build it and watch it go!  Powered by the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education NXT, our robotics course explores the exciting world of building and programming! Students will create cool robots that perform specific tasks while learning the importance of team work and project management.

DON’T ROCK THE BOAT: Learn the science of buoyancy and how propellers and sails work by testing designs and building different boats. To round out the week, students will take a field trip to test their knowledge during a sailing expedition with certified instructors at Humber’s Sailing Centre on Lake Ontario!
