We know your investment in students goes beyond the classroom. Through your guidance and preparation, Humber alumni are trained to tackle the real world with the confidence and know-how to get the job done. Humber has become a part of the fabric that allows our graduates to succeed professionally and in life, and for that reason, we never want the connection to end.

The Humber Alumni Milestones program allows us to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates.

If you become aware of a former student who recently started a new job, purchased their first home, got married, or had a baby, please let us know, and we’ll be more than happy to send a congratulatory gift! Similarly, help spread the word of our Milestones program by sharing the following link:

I am pleased to announce that Carl Oliver has been appointed as Associate Dean, Built Environment at the School of Applied Technology, effective January 29, 2018.

Carl Oliver joined Humber in 2002 in a faculty role, and quickly discovered a passion for teaching and learning. In over a decade as professor/program coordinator he was a faculty mentor, Chair of the Humber Showcase planning committee, and secondee to the Centre for Teaching and Learning where he built communities of practice and supported faculty in their use of educational technology. His focus on innovative teaching led Humber in becoming the first Canadian postsecondary institution to implement the Lightboard to enhance student learning.

Since 2014, Carl has held the role of Director of Professional & Continuing Education for the School of Applied Technology. Carl and his team have leveraged customized training to enhance and build upon industry partnerships and have successfully secured funding for workforce development projects. To ensure that school of Applied Technology’s CE initiatives continue to move forward, Carl will be also leading his department until hiring new CE director.

I also want to use this opportunity to thank Janet Bedard, in particular for the outstanding job that she did as Associate Dean during last few months. Please join me in welcoming Carl to his new role at Humber.

Dean, School of Applied Technology
