The Office of the Registrar is looking for staff and faculty volunteers to assist with the Spring 2018 Convocation Ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place at the Toronto Congress Centre on June 12, 13, 14 and 15 at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The full schedule can be found at humber.ca/convocation/spring-2018.

There are three shifts for the event; you may sign up for one or more shifts using the volunteer Doodle: doodle.com/poll/746qqdhcte49uqfb.

  • 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  • 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

We will be holding two Convocation Overview meetings on May 24 and 25 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in LRC 1015 to provide an event overview. Please attend one of these meetings if you have signed up and have not worked Convocation before.

The Community Outreach & Workforce Development (COWD) department is pleased to announce that it will be taking a leadership role in facilitating the Hive Toronto community network, which was previously stewarded by the Mozilla Foundation. Hive Toronto is a community-based network of educators and organizations who are committed to access and innovation in digital literacy education and programming in Toronto.

Members of the Hive Toronto community network include: Humber College, STEAMLabs, Shopify, Pathways to Education, YWCA, Paperhouse Studio, Coder Dojo, herVOLUTION, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Regent Park Focus, The REMIX project, For Youth Initiative, Toronto Public Library, Story Planet and more. Some of the key projects that the members of Hive Toronto have completed in the past include youth research on digital badging with the University of Toronto and CIRA (Canadian Internet Registration Authority), MakerFaires, Hack-a-thons, and other connected-learning experiences for youth and educators across Toronto. Hive Toronto’s members collectively explore and develop yearly projects that expand the mission of digital literacy education and strives to bring access to digital literacy tools to front-line workers and youth.

Canadian Music Week is the biggest festival and conference in the country. CMW celebrates industry professionals from all aspects of music that help make the Canadian music possible. Located across more than 35 different venues in Toronto, 640 artists, daily conferences, over the course of seven days. 

We sent three Radio Humber reporters, Josette Lafleur, Derrick Sutherland and TJ Betts, to the heart of the action to interview 26 artists for our week long Canadian Music Week 2018 special.

Banner 9 Administrative Pages (replacing INB Production Database) will be live on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. The systems (INB, now Admin Pages, MyHumber) will be down from Friday, May 18 from 6 p.m. to Monday, May 21 at 5 p.m. Cognos will not be available until Tuesday, May 22 afternoon.

What’s Changing? 

The esp.humber.ca URL will be decommissioned. On May 22, Banner 9 Administrative pages will be accessible to users via MyHumber.
