Advancement and Alumni is pleased to announce that on November 27, 2017, members of the Humber community gathered to celebrate six alumni for outstanding achievement and contributions for the 2017 Premier's Awards. The Premier’s Awards celebrate the achievements of Ontario college graduates in the province and throughout the world, and last night we walked away with a big win for Humber in the Technology category. Andrew Bowerbank, a 1989 graduate from Humber’s Industrial Design program, is Global Director, Sustainable Building Services, EllisDon Corporation.
Andrew has become a well-known figure in the Canadian energy and building infrastructure sectors. He has established a reputation as a leading authority on emerging clean technologies, high-performance building design, and low-carbon economics. Andrew is the former CEO and Executive Director of the World Green Building Council, where he successfully worked with Council members to grow WorldGBC membership from eight founding nations to more than 60 member countries.
This marks the 12th time a Humber grad has won this prestigious award. Recipients of the award also receive a $5,000 bursary in their name to support current students at the college. This year, the other Humber graduates nominated were:
- Gord Gillies, Morning Show Host, Newstalk 770 AM, Calgary
- Theresa Fraser, Owner, Lead Therapist, Changing Steps Counselling, Training and Consulting
- Dr. Jo-Ann Elizabeth Leavey, Principal, Leavey Consulting Incorporated & Leavey Clinic
