As we begin planning for the Winter 2018, I would like to inform you that Drew Harvey has left Humber College and the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences to pursue other opportunities. Before his departure, I thanked Drew for the  contributions he made to both our Pathways Programs and the School-College-Work Initiatives during his tenure as Associate Dean, Pathways Programs. Under his leadership, both our Dual Credit and General Arts and Science Programs have been recognized as leaders in the province.

Given the nature of his portfolio, many at Humber had the opportunity to work with Drew on a variety of initiatives during his time at Humber. I know that you join me in wishing him only the best in all of his future endeavors.

To ensure that the School-College-Work Initiatives and General Arts and Science programs continue to move forward, I will be overseeing these two departments until a permanent replacement is found. I am supported by a very dedicated team, and together we will ensure that those initiatives that Drew introduced and put in place over the last year, continue to progress.

Kindest regards,

Paula Gouveia, Dean
School of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Humber Grad Wins at 2017 Premier's Awards

Advancement and Alumni is pleased to announce that on November 27, 2017, members of the Humber community gathered to celebrate six alumni for outstanding achievement and contributions for the 2017 Premier's Awards. The Premier’s Awards celebrate the achievements of Ontario college graduates in the province and throughout the world, and last night we walked away with a big win for Humber in the Technology category. Andrew Bowerbank, a 1989 graduate from Humber’s Industrial Design program, is Global Director, Sustainable Building Services, EllisDon Corporation.

Andrew has become a well-known figure in the Canadian energy and building infrastructure sectors. Andrew is the former CEO and Executive Director of the World Green Building Council, where he successfully worked with Council members to grow WorldGBC membership from eight founding nations to more than 60 member countries.

This marks the 12th time a Humber grad has won this prestigious award. Recipients of the award also receive a $5,000 bursary in their name to support current students at the college. This year, the other Humber graduates nominated were:

  • Gord Gillies, Morning Show Host, Newstalk 770 AM, Calgary
