Today, innovation is vital for every organization. Yet each of us approaches problem-solving differently. Understanding your particular approach toward innovating can enable success in our ever-changing world. The Foursight workshop supports the “people side” of innovation. The one-day workshop is designed for innovators who want to help individuals and teams build the mindset and skillsets that support creative thinking, collaborative problem solving and cultures of innovation.

On the first part of the workshop, the FourSight will give you and your team the insight into each individual's preferred way of clarifying, generating, developing, and implementing ideas. How? By asking a series of simple questions. Each has been carefully developed and thoroughly researched to provide a clear perspective of how you can innovate with others most effectively.

On the second part, using the insights from the learning in the FourSight Thinking Assessment, you will explore the four-step creative problem solving (CPS) process —clarify, ideate, develop and implement. Participants will apply their learning to a real challenge that they are facing in their current work.

On Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of next week (February 24–26), you can visit the beautiful Lakeshore Campus to spend time writing at the Scholarly Writing Boot Camp.

What is it like? Imagine a quiet day with meals and coffee provided, and colleagues working together in a beautiful shared space. Make a commitment to finish that book you’ve been writing, or your dissertation, or that journal article. Writing in a quiet, consolidated session can help to get that project off of the shelf (or computer, as it were), and out into the world!

Communicating with the Deaf in Emergency Situations

This 10-hour (two-day) interactive workshop will introduce participants to strategies and techniques for dealing with individuals in the deaf community in first contact emergency situations. Participants will learn the ASL alphabet, basic sign language for emergency situations, and communication strategies to be able to calm, reassure, assess and obtain contact and other necessary information. Participants will also spend time learning about deaf culture in order to have a better understanding on how to communicate with individuals in the deaf community. The workshop is designed to apply what is learned in practice scenarios.

No previous knowledge of sign language is required to take this workshop. At the end of the workshop, participants receive a USB with more than 100 practice videos to review the material covered in the workshop and a Humber College Certificate of Participation. 

The next workshop is Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days at Humber's North Campus.
