Register for the 2018 LAS Interdisciplinary Conference "Enlightenment 2.0 - What's Old is New Again".

The conference is scheduled for October 12 and 13, 2018 at the North Campus. The keynote speaker is Professor Joseph Heath from the Philosophy department at the University of Toronto and we will have faculty presenting from various schools and departments at Humber College and other colleges.

Join us for our fall welcome event for a chance to learn more about the BASE (Black Academic Success and Engagement) program at Humber College. We will be joined by Lance Constantine, founder of SpeakersU and Humber Alumni. Current and past BASE students will also share thier experiences with the program here at Humber College. Start the academic year off right as we plan for a dedicated network aimed at improving success and overall wellness at college. This event is open to all students, faculty and staff members. Allies are welcome to attend.

Toursday! tours are occasional free Thursday walks led by Arboretum staff and are perfect for anyone who's new to the Arb or who wants a fresh perspective on a well-loved place.

Students listen to an instructor in the outdoor classroom

In support of Humber College's Strategic Plan priority of promoting a healthy and inclusive community, the Humber Arboretum is pleased to offer an eight-part series of Nature Rx sessions in our outdoor classroom. Bring your lunch and enjoy the benefits of taking time to reconnect with nature this fall.

Each session will begin in the Arboretum’s outdoor classroom with Harold St. George (aka Monarch) from Project Soul, who will guide participants through techniques in natural mindfulness. Afterwards, take a short walk with Humber Arboretum Nature Interpreter Sunflower to discover a different area of the Arboretum each week.

Cost: $40 (plus tax & eventbrite fee) for all eight sessions

Register today for the 5th Annual Move for Mental Health Awareness Run/Walk at Lakeshore Campus!

This October come out and show your support for the Mental Health Awareness Month and learn about what services your campus has to offer to help.

This 4km run/walk will start behind C/D Cottage at Lakeshore and weave its way down to the water before cutting back towards the College for the finish line. Everyone is encouraged to attend this free event.

This is not a fundraising event, rather an awareness campaign and the chance for the community to come together.

Important information

  • The event begins at 12:20 p.m. with a short opening ceremony, however we encourage all participants to join us, run or walk at your preferred/available time.
  • We hope to promote participation, support and awareness for mental health throughout the event.
  • Please note the latest course start time for all participants is 1:30 p.m.. Participants arriving after 1:30 p.m. will not be able to access the course.

Bring your lunch and join Humber Arboretum staff for a free introduction to some of our common birds during a tour of the Tranquility Bird Garden!

Found beside the residence buildings, the Tranquility Bird Garden is a demonstration garden that the Arboretum built in parternship with Bird Studies Canada. It is filled with the trees, shrubs, and other plants that you can provide in your own outdoor space to attract and support birds. Fall migration season is on, so it's a great time to visit the garden and see who's in town! 

Lunch and Learns at the Humber Arboretum’s Centre for Urban Ecology offer free introductions to topics related to gardening, ecology, and sustainability. Bring your lunch and enjoy a casual learning environment.
