As part of our Developing Leaders series, we are pleased to once again offer the Coaching for High Performance program. This two day program will be facilitated by Garry Watanabe, Performance Coaching.

Date: May 31 & June 1, 2016
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: Community Room
Audience: This program is intended for management staff in academic and administrative roles

Coaching is a key leadership skill, particularly if we wish to build commitment, engage others, and get results. Since Humber began working with Performance Coaching and their team of facilitators in 2006, more than 250 managers have participated in the Coaching for High Performance program. This dynamic and unique experience has helped change the quality of conversations across the organization, between colleagues, and with students.

Program Objectives
Participants will learn to:

  • Use a clear, concise coaching framework to stimulate high performance in others
  • Energize people and give clear, precise direction leading to results
  • Confront people who need to change behaviour and/or improve performance
  • Develop specific action plans to enhance personal coaching effectiveness

Refreshments and pastries will be available starting at 8:15 a.m. each day. Lunch will be provided.

Most of us are often under some kind of pressure to produce results; however, it may feel as though the day is not long enough to be able to meet all of our commitments and deadlines. This session will teach participants that they cannot control time but can control their actions and priorities. By understanding and applying the principles of personal management around time, they’ll be able to transform an overwhelming day into a productive and satisfying one.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to do the following:

  • Understand the importance of prioritization
  • Develop an effective to-do list based on their priorities
  • Discuss techniques for managing interruptions and overcoming procrastination

This session ends at 1:00 p.m. - please feel free to bring your lunch.

To register for this session, please contact Maureen at maureen.martin-edey@humber.ca or log in to the L&D registration website: hrs.humber.ca/OnlineRegistration.html

Explore the L Space gallery - It will feature 'Refraction,' an installation that highlights notable works from Humber Galleries and Collection, in dialogue with the many faculties, pedagogies and research areas explored throughout the college.

Instructors, representing all academic schools, were approached to collaborate on this unique initiative and to lend their expertise and knowledge to interpret, question and evaluate the selected artworks. The resulting exhibition, in turn, provides viewers with multiple lenses through which they might begin to consider the works anew. During the exhibition, viewers' interpretations of the artworks will be collected. Descriptions can include personal, professional or other responses, illustrating the many ways that art can be accessed and interpreted.

Open May 28th, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. as part of Doors Open Toronto presented by Great Gulf.

Don't forget to also explore Humber's Art Commons (registration for workshop ONLY, tours are open), the Centre for Justice Leadership and Humber's Historic Tunnel Tours.
