A group of Sport Management students are collecting new and used jerseys in the Concourse on Wednesday, November 18 from 11 AM to 3 PM and will be donating them to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program. Any donation of jerseys would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if you want to take a break and have a bit of fun, give bubble soccer a try! Sport Management students will have games of bubble soccer running in the gymnasium from 11 AM to 3 PM. Demos and instructions will be given on how to use the bubbles and play! This event is in conjunction with RBC Sports Day in Canada and the students are encouraging members of the Humber community to take part.

Bystander Intervention programs aim to empower individuals to confidently intervene in an incident in order to stop it. Individuals learn how to prevent and de-escalate situations. Engaging the broader community, raising awareness of sexual violence in addition to changing the social norms are some of the outcomes of bystander intervention training.

The Mental Health First Aid program provides information about common mental health problems and specific disorders. The program will also cover simple and explicit actions we can take to identify the signs and symptoms of distress and provide meaningful support. Whether you are faculty, support staff or an administrator you will learn useful and relevant information to assist you to cope with mental health concerns in your professional and personal life.

In this two-day certificate program, you will learn how to:

Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems

  • Improve your understanding of mental illness
  • Minimize the fear and hesitation to become involved when you think someone is experiencing a mental health problem
  • Learn simple and effective intervention strategies.

  • Wednesday, November 18 & 25, North Campus, Room B106
  • Tuesday, December 1 & Thursday, December 10, North Campus, Community Room.
