We are also looking for your thoughts about what to name this site so that it better describes what people can do here. For example, this is not just a co-op placement site. It can be used for internships, placements, co-ops, or other types of experiential learning events.

If you have not had a chance to provide some pre-session feedback, please spend about 10 minutes to share your thoughts in a survey.

Strategic Plan Town Hall – Wednesday, April 16 (1 p.m. -2 p.m.)

As part of our commitment to ‘live the values of a learning organization’, President Whitaker has hosted a series of Town Hall Meetings to engage with faculty and staff during the early stages of implementing the 2013-18 Strategic Plan. On topics as varied as Differentiation and Strengthening Our Polytechnic Identity and We Are Learners: Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the attendance and level of engagement has been fantastic. All Town Halls are live streamed by Humber’s Media Services Team; please visit www.humber.ca/wearehumber and follow the links to see past sessions.

Town Hall Meeting #5
Humber’s 2014-15 Business Plan and Strategic Mandate Agreement – what are they, and how do they work together?

Humber is currently finalizing a Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA) with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. A key element of the government’s focus on institutional differentiation, the SMA outlines Humber’s institutional mandate, mission and vision, and highlights our institutional strengths with regard to identity and program delivery. The SMA is a formal agreement with the Ministry and reflects the priorities and goals we have set for ourselves in the strategic plan. The business plan, budget and annual report are the mechanisms by which we actualize and measure our progress towards achieving these goals a year at a time. The 2014-15 Business Plan and Budget were approved by the Board of Governors last month, and are important tools which guide institutional planning and resource allocation.

How do these documents work together? What does the SMA mean for Humber and how will it impact our direction? Join us on Wednesday, April 16, 2014,  from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. for a light lunch and interesting conversation about Humber’s SMA and 14-15 business plan. If you are unable to attend in person, please watch the live stream at www.humber.ca/wearehumber and participate online. This is the last session of the year… don’t miss it!
