A Three Day Case Teaching Workshop – Want to bring the world of work into your classrooms? Want to engage your students in deeper learning?

Learn how to adapt the Case Study Method traditionally used in MBA programs to your teaching here at Humber and reap the benefits of using cases to stimulate critical thinking while allowing your students to apply new concepts immediately to real world situations. In this three-day interactive workshop, we will cover what cases are, how to run a case class and how to design a syllabus that includes cases. Faculty from all Schools and Programs, as well as those teaching on-line and hybrid courses, are welcome!

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) and Learning Challenges for College Students

This presentation will describe what the symptoms of Adult Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) are and how a formal clinical diagnosis is made. The potential ways that ADHD could impact studying, task completion and organization for students will be addressed. The presentation will also describe how ADHD impacts students, particularly if they also have associated Learning Disabilities, Anxiety Disorders, and Major Depression. Assessment techniques and treatment options will be presented in detail.

Creating an Effective Lesson Plan - Creating an effective lesson plan is an integral part in delivering instruction. A well formulated lesson plan provides a guide for managing the learning environment.

In this workshop, the importance of preparation by completing a needs analysis and creating learning outcomes will be explored. The participants will examine suggested elements in a lesson plan as well as an effective lesson plan template. The plan will identify what you will teach, how you will deliver the material, and how the outcomes are measured. This session will enable participants to design and implement an effective lesson plan to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Workshop runs from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
