The Insider�۪s Guide to Getting Published, established for writers who want to better their odds of seeing their books in print, is being offered this summer by the School of Creative & Performing Arts, Humber College. The workshop will discuss book proposals and query letters that get results, explain the business of self-promotion, and guide participants through the intricacies of the publishing process.
How to build an author profile to increase sales, how to market a book, and how publishing houses make their acquisition decisions are just some of the topics being covered. Others include a look at publishing deals and contracts, and an examination of the advantages and disadvantages of literary agents and self-publishing.
Workshop leader Cynthia Good is the former president and publisher of Penguin Canada and current director of Humber�۪s Creative Book Publishing Program. Joining her will be Jennifer Murray, former vice-president of Marketing at Penguin Books and Kids Can Press.
The workshop fee is $372.04
