Feeling Better at North Campus

Dear students, employees and the Humber community,

As many of you are aware, we recently had a period of several days in which more than 200 members of our community, mostly students at the North Campus residence, were ill with norovirus. The health and wellbeing of our campus is always our highest priority, and we are glad to hear that those who were affected are reporting that they are feeling better.

Humber Sustainability Highlight: Carpool Groups

Humber is becoming a greener campus and everyone is participating! Humber Sustainability Highlights features people and departments around the College that are working to integrate sustainable practices. This month’s focus are the carpool groups at North campus.   Finding parking is a nightmare for a commuter school like Humber. While many joke that if you were to line all of the lots together there would be enough room to land a Boeing 747, the reality is there just aren’t enough spaces for the 80,000 faculty, staff, students, contractors and visitors traveling to campus regularly.

Coaching for High Performance

We are pleased to once again offer the Coaching for High Performance program. This two day program will be facilitated by Garry Watanabe, Performance Coaching.  Dates: May 16 & 17, 2017 Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Audience: This program is intended for management staff in academic and administrative roles

Peer Assisted Learning Support – North to Lakeshore: We Got You

It’s that time of year again! Peer Assisted Learning Support (PALS) is excited to welcome students and faculty to the new academic year. This year we will be offering Learning Skills Workshops, Peer Tutoring and Note Taking Services (for students with accommodations) at both North and Lakeshore campuses. The one-on-one service is designed to help students with course specific difficulties. This service is offered to all Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber students. How does it work?

Media Skills Workshop

Professor Daniel Bear of the Criminal Justice program will be hosting a Media Skills Workshop in WEL 304A from 2-4 p.m. at part of his TEP Leadership Project. This session is for all faculty who wish to improve their skills and find opportunities to communicate their knowledge in the community. In this workshop, Dr. Bear and members of Humber’s Communications Team will focus on how to use social media as an effective communication tool to disseminate research findings, personal expertise on a subject, and commentary on unfolding events.
