I'm pleased to share the exciting news that Ranya Khan will transition into the role of the Associate Dean, Teaching Excellence starting on January 4th, 2022. As the AD Teaching Excellence, Ranya will take on a leadership role in helping Humber realize the ambitions of our Strategic and Academic Plans, by centering EDI, IWBKD, UDL, and learner engagement as pivotal areas for the Teaching Excellence team.
Ranya joined the Humber community in 2018. Since then, she has been a key support to many new full-time professors as the Faculty Development advisor in our year-long Teaching Excellence Program. Ranya’s commitment to Humber’s community and values has been clearly evident in her work with the EDI Task Force. As co-lead and co-chair of the Curriculum and Programs’ Working Group, Ranya has engaged with professors (both full-time and contract), program coordinators, and administrators to guide, encourage and support us in re-visioning our curriculum to be more inclusive, encouraging belonging and full participation from all of our learners.
Ranya has held previous teaching and faculty development positions at Sheridan College, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba where she also held an associate director role. These previous experiences, along with her vision and dedication will help Innovative Learning develop clear goals and plans to move forward, and to do so better together.
Ranya holds a BEd from the University of Manitoba, and an MA and a PhD from OISE. She also holds separate certifications for both TESL education and Comparative, International & Development education. Her skills and commitment as a life-long learner position Ranya ideally to be the new Associate Dean, Teaching Excellence.
Please join me in congratulating Ranya on this exciting new role.
