Call for Board Members for CASSA

The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) is an umbrella organization of agencies, groups, and individuals that provide services to South Asian Communities.

Mandate:
CASSA is an umbrella organization that supports and advocates on behalf of existing as well as emerging South Asian agencies, groups, and communities in order to address their diverse and dynamic needs. CASSA’s goal is to empower the South Asian Community. CASSA is committed to the elimination of all forms of discrimination from Canadian society.

Qualifications:
CASSA's Board of Directors is an 11-member volunteer community board. We are seeking to fill three (3) board vacancies and are looking for individuals with skills and experience in any of the following areas: accounting; human resources; non-profit financial management; grant writing & fundraising; and human rights & legal services. Previous board experience is an asset. We strongly encourage applications from individuals active in CASSA’s member agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend monthly Board Meetings and the Annual General Meeting
  • Participate on Board Committees and initiatives
  • Approximately 8-10 hours/month time commitment
  • Participate in the on-going development and implementation of a long term vision and strategic plan for CASSA
  • Support and participate in the activities of the organization including fundraising, community education and social justice
  • Ensure the programs and services reflect the mission and vision of the agency Applications should consist of a resume and a short cover letter, stating your interest in joining CASSA and how you meet the required skills and qualifications. Board members serve a 2-year term.
