As part of the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, on April 27, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., a simulated emergency exercise will be conducted for the Finch West LRT (Light Rail Transit) on Finch Avenue West between Westmore Drive and Hwy 27. To safely conduct the emergency simulation, a detour will be in place and westbound Finch Avenue traffic will be diverted north to Westmore Drive and west onto Carrier Road. Portable Variable Message Signs (PVMS) and other printed signage, as well as appropriate pylons and/or barricades or barrels, will be installed to alert drivers and pedestrians about detours and closed areas.
Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from fire trucks, construction trucks, ambulance vehicles, police vehicles, light rail vehicles (LRVs), and other construction equipment/vehicles caused by the emergency simulation exercise. Access to the plaza located at 6620 Finch Avenue West will remain available via driveways on Westmore Drive and Hwy 27.
