Reminder: Picket Line Protocol

As the OPSEU strike continues, we remind everyone to remain respectful and safe when approaching or crossing picket lines.

Today, there have been incidents involving verbal threats and unsafe vehicle use. Please be aware:

  • Verbal intimidation or using a vehicle aggressively toward picketers or others may result in criminal charges.
  • Even if not found guilty, a criminal charge can remain on your record and may impact future employment opportunities.

Please remember, these are our colleagues, people who support us every day and help students succeed at Humber. Please be kind, empathetic, and patient.

When crossing picket lines:

  • Allow extra time and stay calm.
  • Avoid confrontation and drive cautiously.
  • If approached, you may say: “I’d like to exercise my right to come to work or attend classes. Please let me cross.”

If you feel unsafe or are prevented from accessing campus, contact Public Safety:

  • Emergency: 416.675.4008
  • Non-Emergency: 416.675.8500
