I am excited to announce that Dr. Mitra Gorjipour will take on the role of associate dean, Social and Community in the Faculty of Social and Community Services (FSCS). Mitra brings a breadth of experience in higher education, having held positions at the University of Toronto, Seneca Polytechnic, Niagara College, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and Humber Polytechnic.
Mitra first joined Humber Polytechnic in 2017, serving as an accessibility consultant, and later on as an academic program manager with the FSCS. Over the past four years, Mitra has served as associate dean at Niagara College and later Kwantlen Polytechnic University where she led diverse portfolios. Through these roles, she has supported projects to embed work-integrated learning into curriculum; guided program reviews, revisions, and the development of new programs; provided leadership in building pathways into post-secondary education; and collaborated with faculty, and community, to advance the decolonization of curriculum.
Mitra holds a bachelor of science in psychology and a master of education in developmental psychology & education from the University of Toronto, as well as a doctor of education in higher education leadership from the University of Western Ontario.
Please join me in welcoming Mitra back to the FSCS, and congratulating her as she begins her new role on November 24.
