Sharon B. Moore, Full-Time Faculty, Theatre Performance

The School of Creative and Performing Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharon B. Moore as a full-time instructor in the three-year Theatre Performance program.

An award-winning choreographer, director and movement coach for dance, theatre, film and circus, Sharon has created over 100 original works. She has extensive experience in dance and movement instruction, as well as curriculum design, and has created a vast body of directorial and choreographic work for professional training programs, including École Nationale de Cirque and her alma mater, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, where she is a resident choreographer. In 2012 and 2013, Sharon was international guest faculty and Atelier resident artist at Princeton University where she co-created and co-taught a new syllabus with Susan Marshall, director of dance at the Lewis Centre for the Arts.

With director/producer Derek Aasland, Sharon runs Cinetic Creations, making immersive movement worlds for stage and screen. Their latest dance/circus show, The Thirst for Love and Water, premiered at the 2015 Pan Am Games and is nominated for a 2016 Dora Mavor Moore Award. Their recent dance/theatre work The Mystery of Mr. Leftovers is nominated for four 2016 Doras, including Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Production. Their contemporary circus shows Le Livre des Souhait and La Vie En Swing, have played to sold out audiences at Montreal's LA TOHU. The Hunt, a dance film choreographed by Sharon and produced by Mouvement Perpétuel, was nominated for the Jury Prize at Lincoln Centre’s Dance on Camera Film Festival and screened in over 30 countries. She was the first Canadian awarded a Bessie Schönberg Choreographic residency at The Yard on Martha’s Vineyard.
