Humber student wins Juror’s Choice Award at international art competition

Curious to know what others thought of his art piece, Humber College student Jaehyun Han entered it into the League for Innovation’s 2022-2023 International Student Art Awards competition.

Han certainly received his answer, which was resoundingly positive, as his piece Coexistence won the Juror’s Choice Award. The Industrial Woodworking Technician student heard about the contest through Humber and, having an interest in art-related fields, decided to apply.

High school students visit Humber for wind turbine design challenge

Dozens of high school students were recently at Humber College showing off their skills as part of a design challenge that tasked them with creating a wind turbine.

Hamid Dehkordi, a partial-load professor with Humber’s Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, helped organize the event that was held with the assistance of Mohandes, which is the Canadian Society of Iranian Engineers and Architects. Dehkordi is a member of Mohandes.

A total of 18 teams of four students each created their own wind turbines as part of the challenge.

Humber students conduct energy audit on Oakville church looking to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions

Humber College students are helping with a project that’s working to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas churches emit.

Net Zero Churches began with the Canadian Anglican dioceses of Montreal and Niagara. Their goal is to stop churches from producing greenhouse gases by changing the building’s mechanical systems while also reducing energy use and costs.

SMART Lab opens at Humber College’s North Campus

Humber College and Siemens Canada have developed a Sustainable Microgrid and Renewable Technology (SMART) Lab that will be used to teach students about microgrids.

Microgrids are systems that reliably manage the generation, storage and consumption of energy. Essentially, they’re small-scale power grids that can operate on their own or as part of a larger grid.
