Future Skills Canada Funds the Development of Humber College’s Digital Fluency Micro-credential series

Humber College has received close to $1 million to pursue a project that will help bridge the gap between individuals and employment. The funding comes from The Future Skills Centre (FSC), which is focused on preparing Canadians for the future of work and to meet the needs of Canadian industry.

Expo remix: FAST invites industry to browse student capstone projects online

The annual Capstone Project Expo is the kind of event where students present year-end projects so strong that industry players hire them on the spot.

Humber College’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) cluster usually hosts the expo, but the COVID-19 restrictions forced a restructuring for 2020.

Project displays are crucial for connecting students with faculty, industry, and future career prospects based on their skills and knowledge.

Students combine data and design at Humber-Siemens Hackathon

Siemens Canada has been a partner in helping Humber College become a leader in sustainability by implementing innovative, energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies. The institutions held a joint Hackathon Tuesday and Wednesday - the first-ever post-secondary Hackathon for Siemens.

Humber Update: Mechatronics Competition, Boilermaker Donation, NSERC

Humber Electromechanical Engineering Technology students competed for a spot in the Skills Ontario competition again this year. The competition demonstrates skills in automation, mechanical build, professional practice and more. Since 2004, Humber students have won 42 medals at Skills Ontario, Skills Canada and WorldSkills competitions.

Humber Update: Orientation, Interior Design student wins $8,000 & Humber Cultural Hub

January has been a busy month so far at Humber College. New students had a fun-filled Welcome Week and Winter Orientation. They were able to connect with their classmates, tour the campus and meet their faculty. Activities included recreation drop-ins, mix and mingles, and the First Year Experience Winter Café.

Biomimicry: How Nature Can Inspire Innovation and Invention

Biomimicry, from the Greek words bios (life) and mimesis (imitation), is an exciting new discipline that looks to nature for ideas and inspiration. Come to the Arboretum for this evening talk and discover how 3.8 billion years of "research and development" is inspiring scientists, engineers, architects and others to develop everything from gecko-like adhesive tape to echolocating canes for the blind. In addition to the talk, there will also be a display of unique products from around the world that were inspired by nature.
