Jasmin Robins

Occupational Therapist Assistant & Physiotherapist Assistant, 2015

Keen on the Occupational Therapist Assistant & Physiotherapist Assistant program at Humber, Jasmin Robins was excited to start her educational career in a close-knit environment. Having previously studied at York University, Jasmin was relieved when she first arrived at Humber and started to feel a part of the community.

Feeling comfortable with the welcoming individuals that surrounded her, Jasmin quickly became accustomed by building new friendships and familiarizing herself with the campus and program faculty.

“Most people think that when you enter post-secondary you just become a number. This was definitely not the case at Humber. I made a lot of close friends, and our professors were all really personable.”

Regardless of the countless all-night study sessions with her classmates, Jasmin really appreciated the hands-on experience her program offered. From workshops with real clients to placements at different facilities, she was able to gain the industry experience that she needed in order to be successful.

As time progressed, Jasmin started to become more confident and social, learning how to connect with a variety of people. Working in Athletics, she was able to meet individuals from all across Humber, gaining more friendships along the way.

The connections Jasmin made at Humber stay with her to this day. Coincidentally, a friend and past classmate of hers recommended her to her current position as a Physiotherapy Assistant at a continuing care centre. In this position, Jasmin assists in the recovery of seniors, often teaching an exercise program to get them up and moving.

Although finding a job at first took some time, she is ecstatic about the work she is currently doing. Having the opportunity to meet new clients every day, Jasmin feels rewarded when she sees her patients leave.

“It’s so amazing to see the progression of your work on a client. You remember them coming in, barely able to walk, and then at the end of everything they’re walking around with ease. It’s nice to know that you had a part of making that happen.”

Jasmin appreciates all that Humber has done for her – from pushing her to step outside of her comfort zone, to providing her with the connections she needed to get where she is today, Jasmin is thankful for her educational experience.
