There are many ways to support Humber College and our students. Improving student access to education, the student experience, programs, buildings, equipment and applied research these are just some of the many ways our donors support Humber. You may wish to make your gift right away or plan your gift for the future. From honouring someone special; establishing a scholarship; providing a gift of equipment, books, or property; to making a gift of securities; supporting an event; or planning a gift through your estate, we are ready to work with you to meet your giving interests. Explore the many opportunities and see how you can make a difference.
Annual gifts (one-time, ongoing monthly gifts or a pledge over a period of time) allow Humber to support student scholarships and awards; special initiatives; ongoing priorities; and emerging opportunities. You can direct your support to any fund at Humber or create your own, whether it’s a particular School or program that’s meaningful to you. Whatever you choose, no gift is too small to make a profound impact on our students.
By making a gift to establish a scholarship or award you will be giving the gift of education to a deserving student. You have the choice of supporting a student who demonstrates academic excellence or financial need – or both. You can also contribute to an existing fund or create your own. Scholarships or awards can be funded and renewed each year, or pledged over a number of years. If you create your own, it can be named for the term of the funding provided, and if endowed, it will be named in permanently.
You can make a tribute gift to say thanks or mark a special occasion, or a gift in memory to honour someone’s life while also helping to enhance the quality of education for Humber students. A card will be sent to acknowledge your kind gesture and the amount of your donation will be kept confidential.
Naming a learning space is a thoughtful and meaningful way to connect your personal experience and memories with Humber College. With a gift to Places to Learn and Grow, students, alumni and faculty will appreciate our commitment to education and student success for generations to come.
Humber Gives is a special initiative that encourages Humber faculty and staff to give back to the College. Giving is easy and affordable, and can be set up as a payroll deduction. If you are passionate about Humber and making a difference in the lives of our students, support Humber Gives today.
You may be interested in donating a gift-in-kind – a gift of property other than cash. This includes equipment, tools, books, supplies, real estate, art, or auction items that help raise additional funds for the College. Your charitable tax receipt will be for the fair market value of the gift-in-kind donated.
You have the ability to improve the lives of students by including a gift to Humber College in your will. Your gift will leave a lasting impact that will make a difference to future generations of Humber students.
By donating publicly traded securities (stocks, mutual funds and bonds), you can make a significant impact with your gift while eliminating the capital gains tax that you’d have to pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds. Donating securities is simple, and is generally an electronic transfer started by your broker after the College’s transfer form is completed. If you hold paper stocks, those can be donated too. A charitable tax receipt is issued for the fair market value of the securities on the date the transfer of ownership occurs.
Many employers across Canada match their employee’s fundraising efforts and donations. By making use of the corporate gift matching program offered by your place of work, your gift to Humber can have twice the impact.
By participating and sponsoring fundraising events like the annual Humber Golf Classic, you can help provide scholarships to students in need of financial assistance. The 6th Annual Golf Classic took place on June 4, 2018 at The Club at Bond Head. Be sure to keep an eye out for information on next year’s event!
Humber College has partnered with Higher Ed Points program, which will allow you to donate Aeroplan or TD Miles that will be converted into funds to provide awards and scholarships for Humber students.
