Adam Sura Arborist Apprentice Memorial Scholarships

A little bit about Adam Sura (May 3, 1990 – May 4, 2018)

Adam loved people. He loved to laugh. He found joy in the moment. He was an artist, a musician, an athlete, a wonderful son and a great friend to many. He gave huge hugs and had a knack for making everyone feel special.

Adam loved everything to do with trees. He started on the ground and in 4 + years found his way to the tree tops. He loved climbing, and getting his many ropes in just the right spots was a challenge and a gift.

In the Humber College Arborist Apprenticeship Program, with his awesome instructors and classmates, Adam excelled in his chosen profession, graduating with honours. Climbing and caring about trees was a joy. Being an Arborist allowed him to meld his athletic and creative skills into a career that he was proud of. He continued to pursue excellence by obtaining his International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certification, becoming a Certified Arborist and able to work anywhere in the world. He also acquired his Class DZ Operators License and became a Crew Leader. Adam was extremely safety conscious and also completed Ontario Hydro’s Utility Arborist certification dealing with safety on and around Hydro property.

To honour his memory, the Adam Sura Arborist Apprentice Memorial Scholarship was graciously started with proceeds from a GoFundme campaign, managed by friend and client Cindy Lunau, with generous contributions from his many, many close friends and family members.

Adam lived life by working and playing hard, giving hope and support to family and friends, and helping everyone he touched to be the best they can be. He believed in living life to its best and he believed in supporting others to do the same. Along the way, he shared lots of laughs, fun, and plenty of love with everyone he knew.

We share Adam’s legacy with you as we know he would be happy to help out aspiring Arborists attending Humber College’s Arborist Apprenticeship Program with fees and equipment costs.
