Our Impact

Research and Innovation

In alignment with Humber’s strategic priority of preparing students to be career-ready citizens and providing opportunities for work integrated learning, CIHW has engaged with several partners on joint research projects. These collaborative research initiatives will provide learning opportunities for Humber students and benefit those in and beyond the Humber community.

Healthy Campus

CIHW is committed to building and sustaining a healthy and inclusive community at Humber. In alignment with the Okanagan Charter and Humber’s own strategic priority, CIHW collaborates with campus health partners on several projects to improve the overall wellness of Humber’s community. These projects include assessments of campus health and wellness resources, initiatives to build better workplace habits, and increasing opportunities for students from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness.

Community Connection and Partnerships

A key goal of CIHW is to establish strong and sustainable industry and community partnerships. Throughout the past year, the CIHW has engaged with 33 industry partners to build new relationships and create collaboration opportunities. These collaborations range from creating internships, providing health and wellness training, developing conference opportunities and creating new resources.

Participants can register into any session(s), choosing in-person or online—which ever works best for them. For more information, please email cihw@humber.ca.

Healthy Breaks@Humber

This is an initiative that involves taking a short 10-minute break during the workday, in the middle of a meeting or class to refresh the body and mind. A healthy break can be taken through Movement (stretching) or Mindfulness (guided meditation). To book a session please email us with your date, time and location of where you would like it to take place!

Wellness Coaching

In the winter term each year, CIHW offers a free Wellness Coaching Program to front line health care workers in community health organizations. Led by the students in Humber's Wellness Coaching Graduate Program and using a strengths-based and non-judgmental approach, Wellness coaches support individuals with identification and implementation of specific goals related to physical, social, mental, emotional or relational wellness.

If you are a community health organization and would like to provide this program to your staff, contact us.
