In alignment with Humber’s strategic priority of preparing students to be career-ready citizens and providing opportunities for work integrated learning, CIHW has engaged with several partners on joint research projects. These collaborative research initiatives will provide learning opportunities for Humber students and benefit those in and beyond the Humber community.
Healthy Campus
CIHW is committed to building and sustaining a healthy and inclusive community at Humber. In alignment with the Okanagan Charter and Humber’s own strategic priority, CIHW collaborates with campus health partners on several projects to improve the overall wellness of Humber’s community. These projects include Healthy Breaks@Humber and Mindfulness@Humber.
Healthy Breaks@Humber is a wellness program that allows Humber faculty and staff to book stretch or mindfulness breaks for their classes and meetings. These breaks promote health and wellness for students, faculty and staff at Humber.
Mindfulness@Humber includes both in-person and virtual guided meditation sessions, scheduled at various times throughout the week. Students, staff and faculty can attend sessions as they fit with their schedule and are provided with a 20 – 30 minute mindfulness meditation to help refresh and rejuvenate during the workday.
Both the above initiatives are led by students, for students and with students as part of peer learning on health and wellness.
Community Connection and Partnerships
One of the key goals of CIHW is to establish strong and sustainable industry and community partnerships. CIHW actively engages with industry partners to build new relationships and create collaboration opportunities. These opportunities include, but are not limited to student internships, health and wellness training for community healthcare workers, co-designing events and conferences and applied research projects.
