Course Code: MEDA 152
This course is designed to assist the Licensed Health Care Professional (RN/RPN) and the Non-Health Care worker in the knowledge and skill development required to draw blood samples, via venipuncture, for laboratory testing. Concepts of blood chemistry and hematology will be introduced. Familiarization with equipment and opportunity to practice the advanced skills to care for patients is provided in a laboratory setting. This course is offered in multiple delivery formats (online and in- person).
The students who have taken MEDA 152-Phlebotomy for Health Care (RN/RPN) and Non-Health Care Workers have a 100% success rate when challenging the Canadian Phlebotomy Technician's Group practical and theoretical exams.
Earn the professional title, Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) upon successful completion of this course and by challenging the CPTG certification exam.

Learners enrolled in an Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) approved micro-credential program can apply for financial assistance through OSAP for Micro-credentials. Eligible students must apply for funding for each course separately by following the step-by-step application process. Applications for OSAP for Micro-credential assistance cannot overlap with another micro-credential study period (funding for multiple courses cannot be applied for concurrently).
