The Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness (FHSW) Teaching and Learning Hub (A107) offers several choices to faculty and staff to support healthy living at Humber. All treatments are provided under the guidance and supervision of qualified faculty and staff. The Teaching and Learning Humber includes the following services:
Offers wellness workshops, wellness coaching and the Healthy Breaks initiative to improve mental health, increase productivity and creativity, lessen body aches and pains, and increase engagement.
Offers goal setting assistance, fitness assessments, personal training, and fun ways to get the community moving on and off campus.
Offers nutritional assessments, goal setting sessions and support for healthy food choices and lifestyle decisions.
Humber‘s Massage Therapy Teaching & Learning Clinic
Students in Humber’s 3-year advanced diploma Massage Therapy program offer treatments as part of their on-campus internship under the guidance and supervision of Registered Massage Therapists.

As part of Humber’s Occupational Health and Safety Program and in compliance with legislated requirements, all Humber employees are required to attend health and safety training to ensure their physical well-being on the job.

The Humber Hearing Clinic (H332) offers hearing tests and consultations, hearing aid checks including cleaning, moisture removal and functionality tests including a baseline for anyone in trades or any professional with high noise level exposure.

The Tzu Chi Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Tzu Chi Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine (C105) offers unique healthcare options to the Humber community including gathering a medical history, performing tongue and pulse exam, determining a TCM diagnosis and treatment plan, prescribing herbal formulas and executing acupuncture procedures.

Low Waste Event Spaces
Since September 2022, Humber has introduced over 10 campus spaces as Low Waste Event Spaces. When ordering catering through Chartwells in those spaces, china service will be the default at no additional cost. The Low Waste Event Space designation aims to reduce waste output across campuses and align with the federal government’s Single-Use Plastics Prohibition Regulation, keeping unnecessary plastics from going to landfill.

In Fall 2022, Humber embarked on a mission to replace disposable containers with reusable ones in our cafeterias and dining locations at the North and Lakeshore Campuses. By adopting the Friendlier reusable container program, Humber has so far prevented 340,000 disposable plastic containers from ending up in landfill.

CIHW - Healthy Breaks @ Humber
Healthy Breaks @ Humber is an initiative that allows faculty and staff to book a short 10-minute break during the workday, in the middle of a meeting or class to refresh the body and mind. Research has shown that taking healthy breaks during the day can help improve mental health, lower anxiety, and help refocus the mind. Taking a healthy break can increase productivity, lessen body aches and pains, improve creativity, and increase engagement. These student-led sessions can be offered as either a stretch break or a mindfulness break.

CIHW - Wellness Coaching @Humber
In the winter term each year, the Wellness Coaching Program offers free 1:1 coaching to employees on their personal health and wellness goals. Led by the students in Humber's Wellness Coaching Graduate Program and using a strengths-based and non-judgmental approach, Wellness Coaches support employees with identification and implementation of specific goals related to physical, social, mental, emotional or relational wellness.

TELUS Health provides all employees with access to online resources on topics such as health & well-being, career & workplace, financial security, and life-events. Full-time employees and Regular Part-Time (RPT) Support Staff also have access to the Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP), which can be accessed through the TELUS Health website.
