Humber has identified as its Strategic Priority #7 under Pillar #3, Healthy and Inclusive Community, to continue to build a diverse and inclusive community of exceptional students, faculty and staff. The specific supporting action is to establish and implement an institutional framework and strategy for equity, diversity and inclusion that addresses the needs of both students and employees.
Employee Resource Groups are voluntary, employee-led groups that foster a diverse and inclusive workplace aligned with organizational mission, values, goals, business practices, and objectives. 2SLGBTQ+ Scholarship
Members of Humber College Are Invited to Contribute to the 2SLGBTQ+ ERG’s Scholarship for 2SLGBTQ+ Students.
Paying for education can be tough, and it can be even tougher for members of marginalized communities. In particular, students who are a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community may face bigger financial challenges than the rest of the population. For instance, according to the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness, two out of every five young people experiencing homelessness is a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. More support is required.
While Humber currently has some supports in place for this community, more are needed. That is why Humber College’s 2SLGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) is establishing a scholarship fund for students who self-identify as 2SLGBTQ+. We invite all members of the College to donate to the fund. The first round of funding will be delivered to eligible student(s) in September 2022.
People can donate in several ways. You can do so by:
When you have chosen the method by which you will donate, please click ‘Other’ under the ‘Designation,’ and type in “2SLGBTQ+ Scholarship." This will ensure your money goes to the correct scholarship fund. Tax receipts are also available.
If you have any further questions about the 2SLGBTQ+ ERG Scholarship, please contact Yanni Thepanya or Rob Plant.
