HUMBERInnovative Learning at Humber is dedicated to advancing teaching and learning (T&L) practices with a focus on belonging, innovation, and sustainability. We support faculty in designing and delivering high-quality, student-centered learning experiences that integrate industry expertise and prepare learners for evolving workplaces and societal needs. Our team provides leadership, infrastructure, and support for faculty to explore and implement new teaching techniques, integrate advanced digital and AI tools, and adopt innovative practices that equip students with skills for both immediate employment and lifelong learning. We collaborate with faculty across campuses and disciplines to develop and support teaching and learning research projects, fostering inquiry and impactful innovations in education.
The Innovative Learning team plays a key role in empowering faculty to cultivate skills and approaches that are central to Humber’s polytechnic education model.
Designs and enhances instructional materials, evaluates curriculum frameworks, and facilitates discussions on effective teaching and learning strategies. They provide guidance on implementing evidence-based practices to support student learning and assessment.
Provide expertise in pedagogical strategies and innovative curriculum delivery methods. They conduct consultations, lead workshops, teach professional learning courses and develop resources to support faculty in enhancing their teaching practices and integrating evidence-informed approaches to learning.
Supports the discovery and use of educational technologies including the LMS. Leads the administration of Blackboard Ultra (Humber’s Learning Management System), and develops resources which support faculty in the use of the LMS and educational technology.
Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to redesign traditional courses into effective online or hybrid formats. They ensure learning experiences are pedagogically sound, accessible, engaging, and aligned with institutional standards.
Supports collaborative research projects related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). They provide resources, workshops and guidance with project development for members across the polytechnic community.
Consults with stakeholders and subject matter experts to design purposeful assets, including static banners, infographics, videos, and animations. Their work is featured on the Innovative Learning website, in communication materials, course offerings, and at events such as Showcase.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support the development of positive and intuitive user experiences for websites, course builds, micro-credential and certificate offerings.
Facilitates project work across the department with a PMP-certified team. They create and manage project plans, report on progress, and connect team members to institutional knowledge, ensuring Innovative Learning meets the demands of an ever-evolving sector.
Providing personalized mentoring and professional development to empower educators in achieving teaching excellence.
Partnering with educators to design impactful online and in-person courses that meet industry standards and foster student success.
Collaborating with faculty to implement innovative technology tools that create engaging, inclusive, and accessible learning environments.
Working alongside academic teams to develop adaptive learning strategies that prepare students for evolving professional landscapes.
Supporting the production of high-quality, multimedia learning materials that clarify complex concepts and enhance student engagement.
Leading initiatives that inspire transformative practices and position Humber as a forward-thinking polytechnic institution.
