Humber Galleries is excited to announce its participation in this year’s CONTACT Photography Festival. Open to all Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber students, faculty, staff, and alumni, artists are welcome to include photography submissions as part of a themed exhibition called How to Remember for the Future.
This exhibition will explore the documentation of unexpected experiences that affect memories of a certain time and place. As an artist, what does it mean to create with intention in a world whose priorities and environments may no longer be predictable nor sustainable? After observing local and global events, and balancing issues such as gender politics, IBPoC representation, climate change, and public protests, how do artists adapt? And to what extent can these present-day experiences shape their future?
Submissions must be photographic or lens-based but can incorporate other art forms within a photographic medium (ex: collage, archival, painting, literature etc). They can be singular images, as well as triptychs or diptychs. Colour and/or black & white images are welcome.
Applications are due Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. EST via an online application form.
