JOIN THE CONNECT PROGRAM AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The International Student and Staff/Faculty/Admin Connect Mentoring Program is designed to enhance the experience of new international students at Humber College ITAL. We hope that this will be accomplished by creating an opportunity for faculty, staff, admin and Humber students to be part of a “Welcome Team” that will engage with new international students through informal, personalized and friendly social interactions
WHY?
- To improve the social, psychological and academic performance of international students as they transition to life in Canada and at Humber College ITAL.
- To enhance the feeling of hospitality on campus for new international students.
- To enhance the intercultural experience and cross-cultural knowledge of staff and faculty. Participation in this program will allow faculty, staff and admin to enrich their intercultural perspectives and communication skills while gaining a greater understanding of the goals, motivations and difficulties experienced by international students.
- Attend the Mix & Mingle session.
- Attend at least two (2) Connect Program organized events during each term (e.g. Mix & Mingle, International Café, and Potluck and Cupcake Decorating Event, etc.).
- Meet with your mentee at least two (2) times outside of any Connect Program organized event during each term.
