I’m pleased to welcome Dave Neill to his new position of full-time professor and academic advisor in Humber’s renowned Bachelor of Music program where he has taught for over ten years. Dave believes in engaging and challenging students with practical applications in the ever-changing environment of the music business, and has a proven track record of excellence in academic advising for musicians.
Dave brings to Humber a wealth of experience in all levels of music education. In addition to Humber’s music degree program, he has taught in the College’s Intro to Commercial Jazz program since 2003, and in the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music since 2004. He has a long-standing commitment to youth music education, teaching the performers of tomorrow at the Humber College Community Music School, Youth Jazz Canada Summer Workshop, and The Jazz Camp at IMC.
Dave holds Baccalaureate and Master of Music in Performance degrees from the University of Toronto, where he studied with Alex Dean and Mike Murley. A jazz saxophonist, Dave has released two CDs featuring his own compositions—All In and Daylight—and has freelanced with musicians such as Johnny Mathis, Wayne Newton, Frankie Valli, Regis Philbin, and Nikki Yanofsky.
Please join me in welcoming Dave to his new position.
