I'm thrilled to announce that after a very competitive selection process Elijah Williams has accepted the position of Dean of Indigenous Education & Engagement (IE&E) at Humber College. In this capacity, reporting directly to the Vice-President of Inclusion and Belonging, Elijah will play a pivotal role in leading strategic planning and providing culturally sensitive advisement to the Humber community. His focus will be on driving innovation in support services, funding initiatives and curriculum development tailored specifically to meet the needs of Indigenous learners.
Elijah's mandate extends beyond mere advocacy for Indigenous inclusion within our institution. He will spearhead the fulfillment of strategic Indigenous initiatives, aligning our efforts with the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Elijah's leadership will be instrumental in advancing Humber College's Indigenous education plan and commitment to truth and reconciliation.
Having served as the Associate Dean of Indigenous Education & Engagement since September 2022, Elijah has already demonstrated exceptional dedication and capability. His collaborative efforts with various departments have led to significant enhancements in Indigenous programming, methodology, research, and delivery. Elijah seamlessly transitioned into the role of acting dean earlier this year, showcasing his readiness and effectiveness in leadership.
