Fair Dealing Week in Canada

Fair Dealing Week in Canada - February 26 through March 2

Fair Dealing is a user’s right granted by the Copyright Act allowing an individual to distribute a short excerpt from a copyright-protected work for a purpose stated in the Act, such as education. Other purposes include research, private study, criticism, review, news reporting, satire or parody. A short excerpt can either be a single chapter or article, or up to 10% of a print work.

Faculty can find out more about Fair Dealing when they complete the online copyright training in Blackboard. After completion, the content remains available to you as a reference.

Please contact copyright@humber.ca if you have questions about Fair Dealing or other copyright topics.
