Humber College’s Sexual Assault & Sexual Violence Policy and Procedures

Over the past year, Humber College’s Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Committee (the Committee) spearheaded the revision of the Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy and Procedures for students. A separate set of procedures were developed strictly for employees.

The Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy was mandated by the Ontario government. The requirements that were set out were quite prescriptive in nature for colleges and universities in how to prevent and respond to all forms of sexual violence. After extensive consultation with stakeholders throughout Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber, the policy and procedures were approved by the Board of Governors in early December, 2016.

Humber College is pleased to announce the official launch of the Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy and Procedures which can be accessed at: humber.ca/policies/sexual-assault-and-sexual-violence-policy.

The Committee has now started the process of developing education and training on the policy and procedures. The training modules will be completed by March 2017. All employees are required to complete the training.
