Humber will be moving to a new “7-1-7” academic semester starting in the Fall 2019 semester. 7-1-7 means that each semester will begin with seven weeks of classes, followed by a reading week, and concluding with seven weeks of classes. Previously, Humber only had a full reading week in the Winter semester.

Over the past several years, multiple surveys have been conducted with students and employees about having a reading week in each semester. An overwhelming majority of students, faculty, and staff responded that the additional days would be beneficial and have a positive impact on them. This initiative supports Humber’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan, Pillar 3: Healthy and Inclusive Community, and aligns us with many Ontario colleges already implementing this system.
