Humber's Black/African Employee Resource Group Launch

Thank you to the Humber Community for joining us on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 for the launch of the Black/African Employee Resource Group (ERG). It was great to see the significant interest across the College for this historic event.

We received feedback from the Community thanking the Senior Leadership and EDI Taskforce for launching the Black/African ERG:

  • Thank you to this organization. Others dreams can now become a reality.
  • Thank you to all that have had a part in bringing this to life. I feel the excitement through the screen. I want to get up and applaud and cheer! Congratulations!!
  • Thank you for inviting all members of the Humber community to join our Black/African colleagues in celebrating the launch of this ERG. I am excited to see what we will be able to achieve when we work to help more members feel as though they are supported in bringing all of their identities to work and school each day.

You are invited to visit Humber's Employee Resource Groups webpage to watch the video that was premiered at the launch entitled, “Bringing Us Together: Humber's ERGs”.

Professors Audrene Kerr-Brown and Morris Beckford are co-leading Humber’s Black/African ERG. The ERG’s first meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.. Details about the virtual meeting will be sent to employees who have expressed interest in joining this ERG.

Humber employees who identify as Black/African and are interested in joining this ERG are invited to send an email to the Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Diversity at humanrights@humber.ca.
