Intermittent Snow and Inclement Weather

Hello Humber Community,

With intermittent periods of melting and freezing snow/ice and rain still upon us, please continue to exercise caution when walking and driving around campus.

Key Safety Tips During Snow and Ice Conditions

Walking through snowy, rainy, or icy conditions:

  • Use handrails on stairs and ramps.
  • Wear footwear with good traction.
  • Wipe your shoes thoroughly when entering the building.
  • Be cautious around shiny surfaces as that may indicate slipperiness, especially when temperatures are below freezing.
  • Take small, careful steps and give yourself extra time so you’re not rushing.

Commuting and parking lots:

  • Keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
  • Use designated walkways and avoid shortcuts that may not be cleared.
  • Step carefully when exiting your vehicle; icy patches may be hard to see.
