Letter from the President Regarding the Support Staff Strike

To all Humber employees,

As you know, all full-time support staff at all 24 Ontario Polytechnics and colleges, including at Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph-Humber are now on strike.

All classes will continue and any changes to delivery will be communicated by faculty through email and Blackboard. Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) classes and the Real Estate program will also continue.

University of Guelph-Humber courses will run with any delivery changes communicated directly.

A list of open and operating services can be found on the Student Services section of the Humber Updates page.

Today, I sent a letter to all our students. I wanted to ensure they know that Humber’s top priority is their success and that we are committed to supporting them in all ways. This is a challenging situation for all of us. Our support staff are a valued and vital part of the Humber community and the Ontario Polytechnic and college system. We are concerned about the impact this strike will have on our students, our colleagues and our community.

It is important that we continue with our work and focus on the plans we’ll need to have in place to be able to welcome support staff back once the strike is over.

The Humber community is respectful, inclusive and collaborative. I’m confident that each one of us will continue to demonstrate these values throughout the duration of the strike and work together to ensure services and operations continue in a safe campus environment.

Sincerely,

Ann Marie Vaughan
