Retirement: Janice Dobson-Guzik

After more than 34 years at Humber College, Janice Dobson-Guzik has decided to retire June 30, 2022.

Janice graduated from Humber College in 1987 from the Faculty of Business, Legal Secretary Program, and upon graduation, began her career at Humber as a Legal Secretary to Humber’s first Legal Counsel; the first full-time and onsite General Counsel in an Ontario community college.

In addition to serving as the Assistant to Humber’s Legal Counsel, Janice has served in a variety of different roles including:

  • Assistant to the Director, Ancillary Services
  • Assistant to the Registrar
  • Assistant to the Dean of Student Services
  • Program and administrative support in the Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology

Janice currently plays a pivotal role in providing program and wrap-around support to over 1,000 high school students per year as the Dual Credit Program Support Officer. Dual credit students are learners who are college capable but often face multiple barriers to access and inclusion. Taking a dual credit course at Humber means that these learners can earn both a college course credit and a credit towards their secondary school diploma. By grounding her service to students in care, compassion and by fostering a deep sense of belonging, Janice works alongside nine school boards, and faculties across Humber, to create meaningful academic and engagement opportunities for dual credit students with the ultimate goal of fostering student success.

Please join me in extending our sincerest gratitude, to Janice, for her unwavering and steadfast commitment to our students, and the Humber community, over the last 34 years and for wishing her all the best as she embarks on this next phase of her journey!
