Social Media Summer Program

The School of Media Studies and Information Technology recently concluded another successful Social Media Summer Program, a collaborative initiative with Business Academy Aarhus (BAAA), one of our partner institutions in Denmark. From July 9-20, students from BAAA and Humber shared a classroom at Lakeshore Campus. This year we also welcomed a student from Sinclair Community College in the United States.

In this innovative course, taught by faculty from both Humber and BAAA, students discovered how to create relevant and meaningful social media content, and apply effective communication strategies across various platforms. The course included exclusive visits at Microsoft and Shopify, various industry guest speakers, and concluded with students presenting pitch projects to a real Toronto client, Flarian. “Social media is changing all the time. I’m glad to be a part of the evolution!” said one Humber student.

Beyond the classroom, the students built meaningful relationships, expanded their international network, and appreciated the opportunity to learn in such a culturally diverse group of people. They all walk away from this experience with a new, global perspective on social media.

Schuyler Esen from Sinclair Community College warmly reflected on her experience: “This time in Toronto was such an eye opening experience for me as a student and as an American, and I will cherish the lessons I’ve learned both in and out of the classroom for the rest of my life.”
