Stay Connected with the Office of EDIB

Dear Humber and Guelph-Humber Community,

As the winter semester unfolds, the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDIB) would like to reconnect and share our appreciation with each of you. This time of year can bring added pressures, academically, professionally, and personally, which makes staying connected to community, care, and support especially important.

At EDIB, our focus this semester is on connection: creating spaces where people feel supported, seen, and able to engage meaningfully with one another. Whether through conversation, learning, reflection, or community care, we remain committed to ensuring that equity and belonging are lived experiences across Humber and the University of Guelph-Humber.

Here are a few ways to stay connected with the Office of EDIB this winter:

EDIB Collective Action Learning Hub: The Belonging Series

This semester-long series invites our community to explore what it means to build, sustain, and deepen belonging at Humber. Topics include navigating courageous conversations, developing inclusive communication skills, and strengthening conflict resolution practices. This semester places a special focus on how to resolve conflict and engage in difficult conversations with respect and dignity for all—skills that are essential to cultivating spaces where people feel safe, valued, and heard. Sessions such as Behaviours of Inclusion and the Inclusivity Conflict Resolution Workshop offer practical strategies faculty and staff can put into practice right away.

Community Conversations

These gatherings are intentionally informal and relational. They offer space to slow down, share stories, listen deeply, and connect across difference. Open to students, staff, and faculty, Community Conversations remind us that belonging grows through dialogue and shared experience.

EDIB Office Hours

Join us during office hours to connect with our team, ask questions, or explore how we can support your learning, teaching, or initiatives. These sessions are a great entry point for staying engaged and building relationships.

Equity Hubs

Our Equity Hubs, Black Student Support & Engagement (BSSE), the LGBTQ+ Resource Centre, and the Spirituality & Wellness Centre, continue to be vital spaces of affirmation, care, and community for students. We encourage staff and faculty to actively connect students to these hubs so they can access the support and sense of belonging they need to thrive during the winter semester.

Request to Collaborate

If you’re interested in working with the Office of EDIB, we invite you to submit a request so we can explore meaningful ways to collaborate and support initiatives that advance equity and belonging across our campuses.

EDIB Champions

Belonging is strengthened when we share our stories. EDIB Champions is an opportunity to highlight how equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging are being brought to life across classrooms, programs, events, and everyday interactions. You can share your own experience or recognize students, staff, or faculty whose work is making a difference. These stories help us celebrate community leadership and amplify the many ways belonging shows up at Humber.

As we continue through the Winter 2026 semester, we are grateful for the care, energy, and commitment you bring to our community. We look forward to staying connected and working alongside you as we continue to build a campus culture rooted in equity, care, and belonging.
