Supporting Our Community Following Hurricane Melissa

Dear Humber community,

Over the last few days many of us have heard about the devastation and impact of Hurricane Melissa on Jamaica and the Caribbean region. We know that many members of our community are personally affected by the hurricane and have family members and loved ones in the region as well. It is a difficult time, and we ask our staff to be understanding and supportive of their colleagues and students navigating the results of this natural disaster.

If you are personally impacted, please take care of yourself and speak with your manager if you need support or flexibility in the days ahead. We also encourage faculty to continue to demonstrate flexibility and understanding with their students who may be impacted.

We continue to support students and employees who may need assistance during this difficult time. We ask that staff who support students in their learning experience ensure they are aware of the following resources should they need them:

Employee Resources

  • The Employee and Family Assistance Program services are also available for full-time employees and include counselling services and online resources.
