We have been hosting this event for 14 years and it never gets old! This student-organized event has new hosts every year and therefore, feels like a new event. This year, the students chose to use technology to map out our course and the teachable moment came through loud and clear. Google maps do not take into account winding pathways! Sorry for the extra steps (oops, we goofed).

We also appreciated your valuable feedback; no more bottled water as "sponsored gifts" to participants. If you would like to receive advanced notice of this event for 2020, please feel free to email me and I will put your name on our advanced notice list.

Your generous support allowed us to make a charitable donation of $645 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. Thank you.

Stay tuned for our 2nd Annual Fitness Palooza this summer!

The Centre has recently launched Humber’s updated Human Rights Policy and Complaint Resolution Procedure. The Ontario Human Rights Commission requires that all employers provide ongoing education and training on the organization’s human rights policy. As such, all Humber employees (full-time, non-full time, work study) are required to update their knowledge of the Human Rights Policy and Complaint Resolution Procedures.

Please note: All Humber employees who have attended a Humber’s Human Rights Training session prior to August 2018, are required to refresh their knowledge of Humber’s Human Rights Policy & Complaint Resolution Procedures.

To facilitate your attendance, training sessions will be offered throughout the 2019/2020 academic year through an online registration process. The next available training sessions at the North and Lakeshore campuses will be offered on the following dates in the attachment below.

This year's Showcase theme "SHIFT" is all about the #ShiftForward in transforming and disrupting teaching and learning within postsecondary education.

In collaboration with the Showcase committee, CTL Creative will be leading the development of this year's conference opening video. It will be a fast paced, energetic video sprinkled with some of Humber's latest and greatest work, with select projects or initiatives highlighted to best reflect Humber's bold new strategic plan.

We are asking the various faculties and departments around the College to submit ideas about some of the exciting work that is happening across their various divisions. While there are tons of incredible projects happening across the institution, please be aware that we are only able to include a limited number of submissions.

You may submit a project or initiative of your own, or something cool happening somewhere else! You are also able to submit multiple forms.

Submit here

Please submit your ideas by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26.

Barb joined Humber in 1997 and holds a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor of Education from Brock University and is also a graduate of Humber’s Public Relations diploma program.

Barb was appointed to the role of Registrar in 2014 and has taken on increasing institution-wide leadership responsibilities in addition to leading transfer/pathway activities, the development and reporting of student fees, and the implementation and ongoing development of Humber’s student system. In addition, she co-authored Humber’s 2nd Strategic Mandate Agreement and made contributions to the development of Humber’s Strategic Plan. Barb will continue to provide leadership and expertise in the execution of Humber’s strategic plan and enrolment goals.

Please join me in recognizing and congratulating Barb for earning this new role.

The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity will be hosting training sessions on Saturday mornings for non-full-time faculty.

Last year, the Centre engaged the Humber community in a participatory process of reviewing and obtaining comments on Humber’s revised Human Rights Policy and Complaint Resolution Procedures.

We understand that non-full-time faculty may experience scheduling challenges to attend a week day training session and for this reason the Centre will be offering the following weekend training sessions.

lease note: All Humber employees who have attended Humber’s human rights training session prior to August 2018 are required to attend a ‘Pathways to Human Rights Education & Action’ training session. This includes sessional, contract, part-time, and full-time employees.

To register contact Zareena Khan at zareena.khan@humber.ca.
