Register now for the Office of Research & Innovation’s Introduction to Design Thinking Workshop.

We are offering free 90-minute virtual workshop sessions facilitated by our team of experts. 

In this introductory workshop, we will have some fun learning the essentials of design thinking techniques and understanding the design thinking process. Design Thinking is a proven approach for creating solutions, i.e., problem-solving. This workshop is developed to provide you with essential design thinking techniques, mindsets, and behaviours to encourage you to solve problems. DT is a human-centred design approach to problem-solving, which leads to innovation.

Do you ever find yourself swallowing your food before getting a chance to taste it? Have you ever wanted to learn how to be present at mealtime and savor every bite? Mindful eating might just be for you! Join us for our mindful eating workshop hosted by students from Humber’s Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle Promotion program.

The workshop will introduce mindful eating, explain how it supports the mind and body and will be followed by actionable tips and techniques you can incorporate at home for a more mindful eating experience.

The workshop will be hosted on Microsoft Teams on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. (EST). Also, don’t forget to bring a snack for one of the activities!

Assessments & Academic Integrity Workshop: New Date Added! Feb 10

New date added! Join us Thursday, February 10 from 3:30 p.m.to 5:30 p.m. This two-hour Assessments and Academic Integrity Workshop will be facilitated by Humber Innovative Learning's Instructional Design Technologists. Registration is required.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Participants will create an online assessment that is relevant to the course learning objectives.
  2. Participants will utilize the appropriate academic integrity strategies for an assignment.

Counselling Services is excited to announce that they will be running a virtual mindfulness group this winter 2022 semester called The Mindful Way. This will be a nine-week closed group with a maximum of 12 participants. The group involves a combination of psycho-education, mindfulness skills and experiential learning.

The closed group starts on Thursday, February 3 and will run for nine weeks every Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Zoom.

All of the information, dates and topics, is on the poster attached.

Important information before referring:

  • This is a nine-week closed group. Students are expected to attend all sessions. Please view attached poster.
  • Students will be asked to keep their video on in the group as interaction is a huge part of this group (involves break out rooms and skill practice).
  • Interested students will meet with one of the facilitators to assess for group fit before registration.

Youth Climate Lab (YCL) is a Canada-based, global non-profit organization that accelerates youth-led climate policy, projects and business.

Dominique Souris (she/her) is a designer, systems thinker and youth advocate. In her role as the co-founder and Executive Director of YCL, she works with a dedicated team to enable youth to create the just, climate-resilient futures they deserve. Dominique is passionate about the intersections of climate justice, social innovation and climate finance.

Jasveen Brar (she/her) is a climate educator with experience working in ocean conservation and polar policy. She has been named a Top 30 Environmental Educator by NAAEE, Top 25 Environmentalist by Starfish and holds a Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers from the Governor-General of Canada. She also serves on the Governance Board for the Canadian Ocean Literacy Council. YCL couldn’t be happier to have her on board as they enter their fifth year.
