Lunch and Learn - Transition to Retirement

Moving towards retirement is full of both daunting challenges and new possibilities. You should ask yourself, “What do I want to do with my time and energy when I am no longer working full time?” It is never too early to consider the future, and this training will appeal to people of all ages.

This session will help participants plan early to set retirement goals in all areas, explore available resources, and identify ways to overcome any possible obstacles in reaching their goals.

Learning objectives: at the end of this session, participants will be able to do the following:

  • Recall the five emotional stages of retirement
  • Discuss how to have a successful transition into retirement
  • Recognize the importance of planning the various areas of their lives

If you are thinking of retirement or planning ahead for the future - this is the session for you!

Effectively engaging young people who consume cannabis with harm-reduction information can help them avoid potential issues with cannabis. Learn about the research undertaken at Humber about how young people make decisions about their cannabis use and how we can engage with them to promote the uptake of harm-reduction measures as part of their consumption of cannabis. We'll also cover information about cannabis use patterns in the period since legalization, and explore what's coming next with cannabis 2.0 products like edibles and vape pens.

Join Humber faculty member Dr. Daniel Bear, Chair of the Humber Harm Reduction Partnership, for a seminar talk and discussion about this important area of research and public health.

Please feel free to bring your lunch.

Students illustrating human figures on a gallery wall

From 1890 to 1979, the Humber College Lakeshore Campus was a psychiatric hospital. Reflecting on the complex legacy of their school, Humber College students consider access by engaging in creative workshops and collaborations with community members. Artists from Among Friends Community Mental Health Program and Workman Arts held creative sessions for students on wellness, mental health, disability, housing and food security. Creating reactionary artworks, Humber students and their community collaborators present artifacts, installations, and drop-in workshops to enliven critical debates on social and systemic barriers, while providing a space where art and access can collide.

The Humber Art Commons is an accessible facility; ASL and exhibition attendants will be present.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Art in Access is presented by Humber College, Humber Galleries, and the Toronto Biennial of Art.
