What is Map the System?

Map the System is a global competition that challenges us to think differently about social and environmental change. Rather than jumping straight into a solution, business plan or an idea to fix problems, Map the System asks us to use ‘systems thinking’ to understand complex social and environmental challenges. Learn more at www.mapthesystem.ca.

What happens in Map the System?

Students will:

  • Develop systems level thinking
  • Formulate ways to visually map a complex system
  • Build research and presentation skills
  • Forge new connections with innovators and changemakers
  • Compete to be the winning Humber team that will present at the Canadian virtual finals
  • Compete to present at the University of Oxford virtual finals and win cash prizes

Have questions about how to incorporate Map the System in your classroom? Email us!

Bell Let’s Talk Day 2021 is Thursday, January 28, 2021.

While it may be virtual this year, we still want to encourage all students and staff to join the biggest conversation about mental health.

This year, with COVID-19 affecting every aspect of our lives, we are feeling the impact of the pandemic on our mental health wellness. Now more than ever, mental health matters and every action counts.

For Bell Let’s Talk Day, Bell Canada will donate five cents to mental health initiatives for every use of their hashtag #BellLetsTalk, each view of their videos, use of their social media frames and filters, and every text and call made on their networks.

This is a national campaign focusing on mental health awareness, decreasing mental health stigma, and to encourage the discussion about mental health wellness. Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber are proud to part of this initiative in supporting mental health wellness.

Please check out the various campus social media channels. Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber are hosting a variety of virtual activities throughout the week of January 25-28 all in support of Bell Let’s Talk Day and being there for another.
