The Educational Technology Committee (ETC) is hosting a series of free ETC Virtual Lunch and Learn Webinars!

Students and faculty can sometimes be overwhelmed by all of the digital learning technologies available to them at their institution. What should I use? How do I use it? What have I missed? Where do I start? At Fleming there is a new starting place, the Digital Learning TechBank. It’s a space where all of the digital learning options available to students and faculty are listed to ease that decision-making process. Each tool has its own page that details the who, what, when, where, why and how. Join this session for an overview of this resource and how it is used at Fleming and to begin work on a plan for creating your own techbank for your institute.

Learn the essentials of a four-month innovation project in an engaging half-day or full-day workshop. ExperienceInnovation™ teaches people how to identify challenges that are human-centered, observe users to build empathy, form unique user insights based on observations and create learning-oriented experiments. As a result, participants develop an awareness of and support for design thinking as an approach to problem-solving. Our workshop will also provide the opportunity to practice the skills to tackle a design thinking project from start to finish and encourage individual commitment to personally practice design thinking techniques.

What are the outcomes?

Participants leave ready to bring design thinking techniques to their teams’ real-world initiatives.

  • Develop a common language for innovation
  • Put customers at the center of design efforts
  • Grow nascent ideas into powerful solutions
  • Integrate design thinking into your work culture

Lunch will be provided.

Apathy is all around us. Increasingly, those in leadership positions are asking themselves, how do we boost public participation, engage our students or inspire our membership to get involved? In this lecture, Dave Meslin will encourage us to recognize apathy as a web of barriers that reinforce disengagement and show us how we can work together to dismantle the obstacles. The strongest cities, schools and associations are the ones that have learned how to tap into the collective creativity, passion and knowledge of their constituents.

For our complete line-up this semester, see the President's Lecture Series homepage.
