A two-part workshop for faculty.

Developing an effective and engaging e-portfolio can be challenging and rewarding. Come and explore best practices for choosing content and building a portfolio that truly reflects who you are as an educator.  In part one you will discuss what to include and discover a process for choosing the best artefacts for inclusion.  In part two you will use a template and familiarize yourself with a free, easy to use tool that can be fully customized to meet your vision.

The Humber Arboretum is expanding our definition of Toursday! This month, join us on Tuesday for a free guided walk around the grounds of the Arb with Senior Nature Interpreter Tamarack. Be sure to dress for the weather, including footwear that's fit for exploring!

Toursday! tours are occasional free Tuesday OR Thursday walks led by Arboretum staff and are perfect for anyone who's new to the Arb or who wants a fresh perspective on a well-loved place.

This event is free but please RSVP through the Humber Arboretum website to help us plan.

Join us at the Applied Research and Innovation office (D224J) on May 2 or June 4 to learn and practise the basics of data analytics, one of the most in-demand skills for 2019 and beyond.

In this hands-on workshop, Ashley Bennington, Senior Consultant, HR Analytics at CGI, will show you how to transform data into a powerful narrative used to make business decisions. In the morning, you will learn practical skills in MS Excel*, including using pivot tables for data mining, creating data visualizations and building reports. During the afternoon, you will apply the skills you’ve learned to begin data mining. Use the dataset that Ashley will provide or feel free to bring your own.

*Please bring your own computer.

Humber College Careers, Accessible Learning, and Community Employment Services is excited to announce the third annual Transition to Work Event: Employment Success for People with Disabilities.

Take part in our two-day event with career-focused workshops, participate in our student alumni and employer panels, network with community organizations that provide employment services for people with disabilities and sign up for mock interview practice.

The Part-time Faculty Orientation is comprised of two workshops. Participants are encouraged to register for both Part-time Faculty Orientation to Teaching at Humber and Blackboard: Introductory Workshop for New Part-time Faculty.

Part-time Faculty Orientation to Teaching at Humber:

This session includes an overview of Humber College’s student population and resources for faculty and students. Participants will share strategies for preparing for the first day of class and incorporating a learner-centered approach to teaching and learning. Participants will also explore lesson planning fundamentals and inclusive ways to engage learners.

Blackboard: Introductory Workshop for New Part-time Faculty

New part-time faculty are encouraged to attend this 1 hour introductory workshop on Bb 9.1. Learn the basics of Bb 9.1 and find out how it can enhance your classroom. Participants will discover how to upload the Humber Template and documents, and will be introduced to basic communication tools.

Dear registrant:

  • Make sure you can access Blackboard.
  • If your central login ID or Password does not work, you will need to go to IT with photo ID and get them to do a reset. North Campus: NX 210, Lakeshore Campus: A212.
  • Be sure you have a course to work with in Blackboard. This could be a live site or better yet a DEV site or SANDBOX. Both a DEV site and Sandbox can be requested using the appropriate e-forms at its.humber.ca. Please note that this request can take up to 24 hours to be processed. 

If you do not have access to Blackboard and a site to work in you will not be able to actively participate in the workshop.

You can also make an appointment at our Instructional Support Studio for assistance in getting started with Blackboard.
