Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber are committed to promoting a learning, working, and living environment that is free from all forms of gender-based violence, including sexual violence. We will be hosting the fourth annual Take Back the Night (TBTN) event and March on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at North Campus. Details will be released in the coming months.

This year, we are focusing on activism and mobilization through movement and art. Our TBTN 2019 theme is "Your body. Your mind. Your time." Everyone is welcome to attend and march in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence

Learn more about Take Back the Night:

Take Back the Night is a movement started by women who had experienced sexual assault. Women and their allies marched and participated through rallies, marches and candlelight vigils, to denounce all forms of sexual violence. Today, Take Back the Night recognizes that people of all genders can experience sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence. However, women, particularly women with disabilities, indigenous and racialized women, low-income women, and trans women are more likely to experience such violence.

Help us celebrate National Tree Day by joining us for a morning of planting native trees and shrubs at the Humber Arboretum! This event will take place at the newly revitalized Humber Pond on Humber College North campus.

The Humber Pond is located near the intersection of Humber College Blvd and Hwy 27. Follow signs to the event site from Humber College Permit Parking Lot 4, found east of the bus loop. Visitor paid parking is available in the parking garage beside Lot 4. (Parking map here. Note: PG on the map stands for parking garage.)

**A planting or stewardship event is a perfect activity for Humber College classes, staff, community groups, individuals and families - all are welcome to attend! All equipment and materials are provided and no experience is necessary. Humber Arboretum and City of Toronto staff will provide an introduction and the City will provide a planting demonstration. Afterwards volunteers are able to plant at their own pace under the supervision of City staff.

Volunteers should dress for the weather, wear comfortable clothing they don't mind getting dirty, long pants, and bring sunscreen and drinking water. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes. The event site does not have washroom facilities, although participants are welcome to use the nearby washrooms at Humber College. Please plan accordingly. The event is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or until the planting is done (whichever comes first), unless otherwise specified.

If you're a group of 10 or more, please register in advance. Space may be limited for large groups. Please email greentoronto@toronto.ca for more information, location details, or to register.
