By attending this session, you will learn how to customize your resume and cover letter based on your skills, experience and industry demands. You will be able to choose a resume style that will draw the employer’s attention and allows you to showcase your achievements. You will also be able to create a cover letter that is personalized and addresses the needs of employers. You will learn how to view your own experience and contributions in a way that will allow you to build an accomplishments-based resume, not just a list of your employment experience.

Mastering the Employment Interview

Learn how to effectively prepare for a job interview and get answers for those difficult interview questions for that employment interview. You will gain a good understanding of how to create first impression including dress code, body language and building rapport with the interview(s). You will be able to understand how to answer the most commonly asked interview questions, difficult interview questions, and behavioral interview questions.

SafeAssign, the Blackboard equivalent of TurnItIn, can be used to encourage students to identify how to properly attribute sources rather than paraphrase or plagiarize. SafeAssign compares your submitted assignments against a set of academic papers and databases to identify areas of overlap.

The Blackboard team has made several updates to our Blackboard environment and the Humber Blackboard Template. Come and see what Blackboard now has to offer, such as the ability to embed HTML5 audio/video files, and updates to the template including a section dedicated to tech spec and Humber policies. Using the Humber Template can help with student satisfaction and online quality. Maximizing Blackboard’s new features can enhance the overall teaching and learning experience.

Enhance your students’ learning by including hands-on educational experiences using LEGO. Applicable in any classroom setting, this workshop will teach you how to harness your students’ love of play and the educational benefits of kinesthetic learning through constructing symbols and metaphors with LEGO.  The result will be a skillset that you can use in your learning environment to have students communicate complex and abstract concepts through innovative LEGO models.
